Australia

Noosa
North of Brisbane, and as far north as you can go on the east coast and still get a surf.  North of this point the great barrier reef protects the coast line.  A great holiday spot for families is Perigian Beach, about 10 mins drive south of Noosa.  There are many apartments within walking distance of the beach, with good local shopping for daily requirements.  Recommended is Perigian Court with apartments for up to six people - don't know about state of maintenance lately but used to be good. You will have to check Telstra for the phone number.

Perth
See Perth page

Norfolk Island
1500 km east of Brisbane, the island is a volcanic outcrop 8km long and 5 km wide. Norfolk Jet Express offers flights from Brisbane 6 days per week.

There are approx 10 km of roads that meander around the island, rolling green hills and valleys, scenery of daunting cliffs and thick stands of Norfolk Pine.  All roads lead to Burnt Pine commercial shopping centre at the heart of the island.

There are scattered Georgian buildings around the island, and coral reef edged Emily Bay is a haven for snorkling.  There is great fishing, golf, and scenic tours. There are 40 Eateries, plenty of accomodation, 80 shops with imported goods tax free.  See Norfolk Island link page.

Some of the people who live on Norfolk Island, an Australian dependency in the southwest Pacific Ocean, are descendants of the mutineers of the HMS Bounty, the British merchant ship under the command of Captain William Bligh. The mutineers originally lived on Pitcairn Island but moved west to Norfolk Island in 1856.

Victoria - Rutherglen
Three hours north of Melbourne by car is the centre of Victoria's foremost wine growing district. Here you can stay at a beautifuly restored winery for B&B, a retreat or farm holiday... check out Mount Ophir Estate ~ highly recommended:
