Things to do

Paris – what can one say! OK, well besides all the normal attractions, try Angelinas for lunch in Rue Rivoli, just a short walk from Concorde past the WH Smith English bookshop. Also "La Cupole" in Montpanasse is a classic Parisienne restaurant not to be missed. For parks in summer don’t miss the Luxemburg (Map E5) - where the fictional Marius met Cosette in La Miserable (you can also visit Victor Hugo’s house as a museum.

Another magnificent park is Parc Monceau (Map D2). Also try Bois de Boulogne (Map A3). In winter the Science Museum is a great days outing (Map H1).

On the aviation side, the museum at La Bourget is a must (details listed in "Where Magazine - Museums"). In good weather, especially on weekends, most pilots will want to make the pilgrimage to Jean Baptiste Airport at La Ferte Alais. Take the train from Gare de Lyon to Ferte Alais on the Malsherbes line, and take a taxi from the township to the airport. Here you will find antique aircraft and warbirds in flying condition – many of which fly on the weekend. You can pay to take a flight from the all-over grass field and enjoy a pleasant lunch in the restaurant. Recommended.
